About the Project
From the publisher: A year ago, Marc Tizura and Suzanna Lundale, collectively End of the World Publishing, launched a campaign to fund The Hyperion: Tales from Hell, being a collection of stories and poems from the denizens of one corner of Hell. Now we’re back, with a second collection: Zehlreg Augustus Grindstone’s Spectacular Western Oddity Emporium, featuring at least 41 short stories, flash fiction pieces, and poems bringing the history and myth of the American Wild West together with the realms and tropes of Fantasy. Thanks to the enthusiastic response our call for submissions garnered, and the high quality of so many of the pieces submitted, this collection, without stretch goal tales and without introductory and connecting material, already boasts over 115K words!
While traditional tales of the Wild West have tended to privilege white, male voices above others, and there certainly are white, male characters and artists herein, we are hugely excited that the pieces in this collection come from artists on 4 continents, representing perspectives and experiences from all along racial, gender, sexuality, age, and disability ranges.
Our base funding goal goes largely to pay the contributors whose work makes up the book. The rest of the funding will go to paying for the custom rewards, the printing of the book, the creation of a cover, the postage, and the editors’ pay, which we will be taking in the form of some web design work, including an online shop, for our growing publishing hut.
